    Description

Vintage Duhme & Co. No. 3 Demitasse Spoon – Cincinnati Souvenir
Offered for your consideration is a wonderful, sterling silver souvenir demitasse spoon, produced by the firm of Duhme & Company, used as a souvenir for the city of Cincinnati, Ohio. Research indicates that this is pattern No. 3, apparently introduced in 1885. The shaft features a lovely floral arrangement highlighted by two blooms at the center. An additional bloom separates this design from the scroll work at the top. The back of the shaft features scrollwork designs, as well as the notation “
    DUHME & CO STERLING
” at the center. Dominating the bowl is the city name, “
    CINCINNATI
”, with a wavy pattern near the rim. Duhme & Co. was founded by German-born Herman G. Duhme and his brother John in 1843, though at that time it was a fancy goods store. They began producing their own jewelry and silver items around 1866, becoming the most productive and successful firm in Cincinnati’s silver industry. The presently offered specimen measures approximately 4¼ inches and weighs approximately 10.4 grams. A great piece to represent this historic Ohio city, as well as the premier silver producer in that city.
This piece is pre-owned and exhibits signs associated with normal wear and polishing.
Please disregard the reflection in the bowl of the spoon.
A .99 charge will be added for postage and insurance.
If you have any questions regarding this item, please ask before purchasing.
