Description
I remember when these small and very advanced camera came into the photo shops.I wanted one, but they were above my budget.
This camera has been in my OLY drawer for 2 years waiting to go with some other Olympus models to my repairman. It needed foam seals, and it came back yesterday. It does show signs of use... see the pictures.
This is a Mercury 1.35 volt model. You can't buy those 1.35 volt batteries anymore due to the eco-hazard. But I keep one for testing. This means you can get a compatible hearing aid battery, get an MR9 adapter, or just go manual with a side light meter. This camera's light meter works.
Understand that OM-1's are manual cameras with a meter which just tells you the exposure. Your cellphone might become the meter.
Even without a battery, the camera still functions.
The OM cameras were considered "System Cameras" meaning there were many lenses and other accessories.
The bottom case is not from an OM-1 but it attaches fine until you find one.
The lens is quite clear. It is an f.Zuiko Auto f1.8 55mm focal length.
I have added a Soligor 80-200mm f4.5 Macro Zoom lens.
There is an online source for the original manual....I will print some pages and show you where to get the download.
In their time, these were a "hot" item.
My repairman says they were the best built of the OM series.
