Your pedals are awesome, and your pedalboard should be too! Why keep them on an ugly flat piece of metal? Get yourself an awesome handmade SCN Pedalboard!Front surface area is 17 3/4" x 14". They are built out of high quality red cedar, a gorgeous wood that is both strong and lightweight. The boards can support about 200 pounds before they even begin to flex. They are built at the perfect angle so each pedal can be easily accessed, and weigh around 3 pounds, so they are easy to carry.
They are carpeted with thick high quality durable eco-fabric that grips hook velcro like a vice. (Pedals are hard to pry off once velcro'd on, so choose wisely! They will not move once attached, even if held upside down and shaken vigorously...) The eco-fabric runs underneath as well, and there is plenty of recess so you can attach power strips, supplies, or other pedals to the underside as well as the top.
(Note: The board in the photos with pedals on it is a prototype that I use, and in the current standard models we are shipping, the fabric completely covers the backside of the boards, just like the front.)
The
Tite-Lock
fastener screws are jig-recessed into the wood under the carpet and are not visible. The fabric itself is secured with gold
Grip-Fast
staples on both sides. We use about 60 small staples per board so there are no air pockets in the fabric and nothing will move at all. The staples countersink, so these as well aren't visible. The corners of the underside of the board are fixed with rubber "feet" that prevent the board from sliding on slick stages. As a final touch, the boards are all hand-sanded to keep the edges smooth and comfortable to grab.
There are two slits in the front surface so you can run daisy chain cords or patch cables to anything fixed to the underside. There is also a hole bored in each side to allow for cables or a power strip plug to be run through. (See pictures for example setup). This board fits at least 6 of todays larger boutique pedals, and about 8 smaller boss sized ones just on the front surface alone. Adding the underside into consideration, there is even more room.....
I love guitar pedals, and got sick of looking at ridiculously overpriced and poorly made boards for sale for hundreds of dollars, so I drew up plans for my father (a very experienced and talented carpenter) to make a simple, durable, and functional quality pedalboard I could use when playing gigs. Soon, people began asking me if they could get one. That was more than two years ago. Today, my father and I have made and sold over a hundred boards and have only improved on the design of the original. We still make each and every one individually, by hand, here in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, and cut no corners in their production. If each part of the board isn't perfect, we throw it away and start again.
If you are searching for a reasonably priced pedalboard of the highest quality that will last the rest of your life, look no further.
We can also do custom sized boards, for all you pedal junkies who need more real estate! Contact me for more info on prices, sizes, etc.
