  • Condition: This is being sold as is/as found out of a home, in its light medium gray tarnished condition, we have not attempted to polish this antique piece (as some prefer these in as found condition) and don't know how it would polish up. There are no cracks, chips or bends to the spoon or large flaws that we see. Due to the tarnishing, while having an overall general tarnished look throughout, the tarnishing here has taken the form of many tiny dark tarnish dots, particularly on the top and bottom surfaces of the spoon bowl, as well as the top side of the spoon stem and end. There are fine scratch lines likely from years of polishing (given the age) and likely other expected light wear from being handled, sitting on display, etc. over the years, but nothing out of the ordinary or that detracts.

    Description

Antique souvenir sterling silver spoon with a patent date impressed onto back side of spoon bowl, "PAT. DEC 4 1900" so we believe this piece dates to the early 1900's.  There is no monogram, manufacturer or retail store marking on this collectible spoon.
Word "Sterling" impressed (rather than 925) on backside stem.  Please see last three images included.
This vintage collectible souvenir spoon is marked, engraved or impressed "Williamsport PA Hospital" along the inner top side edge of the spoon bowl, with an engraving of the hospital building and trees beneath this.  There are no other words on the topside of the spoon.  The spoon handle end has an ornate scrolled raised design, with raised lines and other scroll design work along the stem, from the bowl to the top of the handle.
Antique sterling spoon measures about 5 1/4 inches in length, 1 1/16 inch greatest width to the oval spoon bowl, about 11/16 inch greatest width to the scrolled spoon end, sitting about 5/8 inch greatest depth/height at the upward spoon bowl tip.  We would call this spoon a tea spoon size (teaspoon).  Weighs about .52 troy ounces or 16 grams.  This will be shipped in a small box for safety.

Please inspect the 11 images closely using the zoom feature for details and close-up views, noting that the camera light creates white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth sterling surfaces.  One full spoon image was shot without the camera light.  This makes this image appear yellow, but can help to better show some of the detail which the camera light "blands out".
