Description
For you to consider, this wonderful old set of Johnny Gruelle's 20" Raggedy Ann and Andy cloth dolls. Ann is 20" because of her top knot and Andy is 19".They were made in the 1940's by the Georgine Novelties Co. in the USA. Purchased at an Antique shop, they have their original clothing and are rare in a set like this. Ann has the original readable tag sewn into her side, Andy does not. It has the company and country the years 1918, 1919, 1945 and1947, made in New York City, USA etc. and they are shown in the books and have the "I Love you" hearts on their chests.Their clothing is rather rare it seems as the Ann has on the dress with yellow flowers as well as the red and blue. This dress is shown in the Rinehart book at the bottom of page 24. It is and not torn or mended and has some light soil. Flower colors are bright on the background. She has on her original bloomers. I did not launder any clothes, they are as purchased. Andy's top part of outfit is a blue and white checked that is pictured on page 51of the Garrison book. Both buttons and tattered tie are present and all is clean and undamaged except for the spots on the back of the lower leg, shown in last picture. The closures are white covered factory snaps and work well.
Their hair covers well and Ann has the loop curls at the top. His face nice except for some very light soil on forehead. Ann's face is nice and clean without damage or soil and both have nice rosy cheeks and colors are bright and not faded. Please do check all pictures as they are an important part of the description.
The bodies are great and nice and clean except for the spots on Andy's lower leg, shown in last picture. They are from a non smoking home and have no odors. Questions are welcome and please check out my other items for more dolls and doll things. Thanks for looking.
