    The S2, S2BAR, C2, C2BAR signals are output from a AM26LS31PC RS422 interface IC.
    There is no index signal.
    The encoder disc has an inner and outer ring - each I believe have 6000 lines. The two reading heads are configured to give 12000 pulses per revolution. There was a little fungus on the glass from age but did not affect operation.
